Art Hobby Sessions
What is the aim of the Hobby Session?
To provide the opportunity to learn new skills.
To take part in a meaningful activity.
To provide an activity that enables you to enjoy and achieve.
Who is the hobby session for?
These sessions are for people with learning disabilities who are interested in drawing, painting, creating designs, card making and using computers.
What do I need to know?
For people with and without prior skils or knowledge of art and craft and card making
How will I learn?
Each session will be led a facilitator? This person will help you.
There will be “how to do it” demonstrations?
There will be” things for you to do as a group” exercises.
There will be” things for you to do on your own”.
What type of skills will I learn?
You will be given the opportunity to develop a variety of art and craft skills. To design, make and print hand made greeting cards using different techniques and mediums. During the sessions you will develop your creative skills by using a variety of materials, equipment and computer software.

How will I know if I am Learning?
The facilitator will provide feedback.
The work you have created will be placed in your own workbook.
Things you have made you can take home.
You will tell us what you think.
How long Can I do Hobby sessions for?
As long as you wish.
After a while you may like to try other hobby sessions such as candle making or weaving.
In a few months there will be gardening, cooking and drama.
If you are happy with your new skills you make like to join in our ENTERPRISE sessions.
ENTERPRISE sessions are where we make things to sell. You can help run the business and learn office skills as well. You can become a member and be involved in decisions that are made.
What materials or equipment will I need?
All materials will be supplied by THEARK@L'ARCHE.
Where do the sessions take place?
At The Ark workshop in Lockerby Road Liverpool MAP LINK
Disabled access, disabled toilet and changing facilities car park, dining room facility, and large fully equipped craft rooms
How long do sessions last?
Sessions will last one and quarter hours.
There are TWO sessions each day.
For times see timetable?
You can attend as many sessions as you like.
Free refreshments – tea, coffee, juice are available during break times.
And you are welcome to eat own lunch in our dining room at the ARK Workshop.
How much will it cost?
The cost is £5 per session
This covers all materials, the facilitator, the use of equipment and room hire.
If you need your support worker to come with you there is no extra charge for them.
Will I have a chance to give my views about the sessions?
Yes – it is your hobby session so will are happy for you tell us what you think. It is hoped that you will enjoy and feel like you have achieved something.
You can also become a member of the Social Enterprise if you wish and be involved in the running of the making and selling of handmade candles.
